August 4th 2019 “Barcarolata” Sestri Levante Baia del Silenzio
Barcarolata is a traditional water parade that takes place every year on the last Sunday of July, on the wonderful Baia del Silenzio, in Sestri Levante.
Barcarolata is also a competition. Locals and tourists alike, dressed in carnival costumes, compete with boats decorated with papier-mâché and colorful lights. A prestigious jury judges the boats and rewards the most beautiful and original ones.
The feast was initiated in the 60s by Giovanni Magnelli, with the help of the local Tourism Bureau. Today, the event is organized by the Municipality of Sestri Levante and the Lega Navale (Naval League).
The Event starts around 9.30 pm. The evening will end with a beautiful fireworks display.
